Benefits of Bodywork

Massage therapy is one of the best things you can do for your health. More than just a stress reliever, massage tones and lenghtens the muscles, increases circulation, eases chronic pain and improves range of motion. A therapeutic massage can assist your body's ability to heal itself. Regular sessions leave you feeling calm, rejuvinated, and restored.

Anyone experiencing chronic pain, stress, depression, muscle tension or soreness, dry skin, weak immune function, sports injuries, and many other symproms can benefit from therapeutic massage.

Deep tissue massage is a penetrating massage that affects the deeper structures of the body. It is great for injuries and muscular tension.

Aromatherapy is a wonderful addition to massage.  Essential oils oxygenate the blood and make massage more effective.  Elisa uses Young Living oils in almost every session to maximize its therapeutic benefits.

Chair massage is a fully clothed massage in a seated position. It is generally 20 minutes or less and is perfect for businesses or when you're on the go.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect on my first massage visit?

Sessions over 30 minutes will be done on a massage table. You will need to fill out a form so the therapist has a record of your visit and state of health. You'll be asked to get undressed and to remove any jewlery. You'll be completely covered by linens at all times. The therapist only uncovers what she is working on.
A full body massage covers most parts of the body. It is not sexual in any way. If you do not wish for certain areas to be touched such as your face or abdomen, or if you are uncomfortable with the pressure, please let the therapist know.

Is massage painful?

If you are experiencing alot of muscular tension then those areas may be tender. A deep tissue massage can involve a good amount of pressure and penetrating strokes. The therapist may ask you to breathe through some deeper work. This should never be more than you can tolerate. Every one has a different pain tolerance. Please let your therapist know is the pressure is too deep or if you are ever uncomfortable.

Do I have to get completely undressed?

Your comfort level is always top priority. If you don't feel comfortable taking off undergarments, then leave them on. Remember that you will always be covered by a sheet or towel. Optimally, no clothes are worn. This allows the therapist full access to the shoulders, hips, and lower back, the prime areas of tension.

How will I feel after a massage?

Generally, you'll feel very relaxed or even energized after bodywork. Sometimes, especially if you are new to massage or after very deep work, you may feel off or experience flu like symptoms. This is a natural healing response, the body cleansing itself of toxins. This is only temporary. Drinking plenty of water afterwards can lessen these effects.
